Meta tags sit in the head of an HTML page and describe it to search engines and to platforms that show link previews. This generator reads a small JSON object with four optional fields: title, description, url and image. From these it writes a title element and a description meta tag, then adds Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:url, og:image) and matching Twitter tags. It always appends a twitter:card tag set to summary_large_image and a viewport tag. Fields you leave out are skipped, so providing only a title gives you a short list of tags.
The values are inserted exactly as typed, with no escaping. A double quote inside a description would end the content attribute early and break the tag, so write it as " and write an ampersand as &. Other fields, such as og:type, canonical links, robots directives and locale, are not generated, so add them manually if needed. Search engines usually show roughly 50 to 60 characters of a title and about 150 to 160 of a description, though they may rewrite them. Social previews work best with absolute image URLs.
